Walter Jerome Sedlacek III, age 58, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on July 24, 2025. Born on July 11, 1967, in Berwyn, Illinois, Walt lived a life marked by innovation, devotion to family, and a quiet unwavering faith.
Walt dedicated his entire professional career to the tool industry, where his passion for craftsmanship and problem-solving led to numerous patents. Among his many contributions were the Handy Clamp, Lockjaw pliers, Laser Line Generator, LED broad-beam headlamp, and other inventive tools that left a lasting impact on both professionals and hobbyists alike. His work reflected not only technical brilliance but also a genuine desire to make everyday tasks easier and more efficient.
Outside of his professional achievements, Walt was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with those he loved. He is survived by his beloved wife Robin; sons Jake (Hadia) and Nick; daughters Makenzie and Quynh; mother Catherine; sister Ellen Duffy (Dave); brother Brent Sedlacek (Christine); father and mother in-law Paul and Janice Collier, sister-in-law Kim Schaper (Larry) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Sedlacek Jr.
Walt's home was a place of constant activity and joy. He found great satisfaction in working on DIY projects around the house and took particular pride in maintaining his pond—a peaceful retreat that reflected his care and creativity. Whether training for triathlons or building LEGO creations with his children, Walt approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 2nd at Gospel Life Church Carol Stream, 600 Kuhn Road, Carol Stream, IL. Visitation will be at 10:00 am with service at 11:00 am and lunch to follow
Walt will always be remembered for his inventive spirit, endless energy, unwavering dedication to family, and the values he lived by, rooted in a quiet but steady faith. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
