Vladimir A. Vlasov, 72, a resident of Wheaton, passed away Monday night, July 17, 2017 at the Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center in Naperville.
He was born in Kursk, Russia on December 23, 1944 to Aleksey and Faina Vlasov. He later moved to Latvia, where he worked as a docker in the shipping industry. During his time working on the Baltic Sea, he developed a keen ability to make accurate forecasts by observing weather patterns. On February 20, 1986, he was united in marriage to Lyubov G. Lavrik in Riga, Latvia.
Vladimir was a kind man who always wanted to help others. With a contagious smile and laugh, he attempted to connect with every person he met. He lived with a zest, feistiness, and vibrancy that few men possess. Most of all, he always had a story to share.
Vladimir was an adventurous spirit who loved to explore and travel. In 1996, he and his family moved to the United States, residing in Wheaton. The love of his life was his family: his wife Lyubov and his daughter Veronika. He constantly exhibited hospitality, generosity, and a servant's heart. He was known as a true gentleman who took life in stride and never complained, even at the very end of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Lyubov Vlasov; his daughter, Veronika (nee Vlasov) Magruder; and his son-in-law, David Magruder, of Wheaton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Boris Vlasov.
