Virginia M. Zick, age 86, a resident of the Holmstad in Batavia and formerly a longtime resident of Elmhurst, died Sunday, December 19 peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born on December 16, 1924 in Chicago to Harry and Marie Lundberg.
As a young women she worked as an executive secretary for Crane Plumbing in Chicago. She married Lloyd Zick on June 9, 1951 in Chicago at Midwest Bible Church, where they met. They moved to Elmhurst in 1957 with their two young daughters. They were active at the First Baptist Church of Elmhurst for almost 50 years. Virginia was very involved at church, where she worked for a period of time as church secretary. She was a kind and loving neighbor extending her thoughtfulness where ever needed.
She was a proud grandmother who in younger years created a plethora of wonderful memories for her grandchildren. She was a caring and thoughtful aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. She was a lover of animals, especially dogs. She loved to bake and entertain.
Virginia is survived by two daughters, Bev (Pat) Bednar of Winfield, and Diane (Dick) Routson of Wheaton, two grandchildren, Rachel and Mike Bednar, one brother, Lloyd (Carol) Lundberg of Venice, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd in 2004 and her parents and special aunt and uncle, Einar and Louise Lundberg.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton where friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Elmlawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.
