Obituary

Virginia Schulenburg, age 87, a resident of Central Baptist Village in Norridge, IL, was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 31, 1921 to John and Elizabeth (Shiplock) Schulenburg. She was the youngest of six children. She died Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Norridge, IL.

Virginia attended the college division of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Judson University) and the Moody Bible Institute. She also trained as an X-Ray technician and worked at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago. She served as a missionary in India until she unexpectedly had to return home due to contracting malaria.

She had polio as a child and suffered with its complications all throughout her life. She always had a positive attitude and served the Lord she loved for many years. She taught women's bible study and was a Sunday School teacher at Midwest Bible Church in Chicago. She was a member of the hand chime choir at Central Baptist Village, and was a member of the prayer team until God called her home on March 21, 2009. She was a prayer warrior for her entire family plus a multitude of friends and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Raymond, and two sisters, Gladys (Earl) Solem and Ruth (Ralph) Hite. She is survived by her sister, Grace Foster of Norridge, IL, niece and nephews, Nancy McCreary, Bob and David Denham, Gordon, Roger and Richard Schulenburg, and Robert Solem. She was preceded in death by nephews Earl Solem, Jim Solem, Richard (Bud) Solem and Jack Schulenburg.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at the Central Baptist Village chapel located at 4747 No. Canfield Avenue, Norridge, IL 60706, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois. As an expression of sympathy, memorials may be given to the "Central Baptist Village".
