Virginia H. Schaeffer, 79, a resident of Autumn Leaves of St. Charles, died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at her residence with loved ones at her side. She was born September 30, 1934 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Schaeffer worked as an educator, specializing in special needs infant care for 20 years. Her latest position was as an itinerant for the DeKalb County Special Education Department, servicing families in their homes. She was always an active member of a local church where she resided throughout her life. College Park Church of Indianapolis was especially close to her heart. She became an early member when they were meeting in a warehouse in Indianapolis. She loved books, nature and investing time in children's lives.

She is survived by three sons, William A. Schaeffer, Brian S. (Priscilla) Schaeffer and Scott G. (Kathy) Schaeffer; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn R. Schaeffer; father, Dr. Aaron M. Snyder; mother, Marguerite A. Snyder; and sister, Marynell Kelly.

Visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton, IL on Friday, August 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a brief graveside service at Wheaton Cemetery.
