VIRGINIA POLLARD CARLEY, age 88, of Carol Stream, Illinois, died Thursday, June 25, 2015 at
Windsor Park
, in Carol Stream. She was born July 22, 1926 the daughter of Charles W. Pollard, and Ruth Humphrey Pollard. She married James E. Carley in September, 1950. He survives her. She was preceded in death by her parents and one child, David Carley, who died at birth. Virginia is survived by three children: Bricker (Karen) Carley, Robin (Liz) Carley, Janet (Robert) Spence, all of whom survive her, and David Carley, who died at birth. She is survived by her younger sister, Joann (Don) Soderquist, of Rogers, Arkansas, and younger brother, C. William Pollard (Judy), of Wheaton, Illinois. She is also survived by grandchildren Benjamin Carley, Joe (Angie) Carley, Tim (Kristan) Carley, and Elizabeth (Teddy) Cravens, Jamie Carley, Jenny (Travis) Braga, Carley Spence, and Katy Spence, as well as by 9 great-grandchildren. Virginia graduated from National Louis University in 1948 and taught school early in her marriage, then was a housewife and mother, living in Wheaton, Chicago, Illinois, Cleveland, Ohio and Madison and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. She was active in Christian Women's Clubs in Madison, Wisconsin, and she served senior citizens in the community by organizing trips to visit historic sites in the United States. She opened a shop in Door County, Wisconsin, which she ran for 5 years. She resided at
Windsor Park
in Carol Stream since 2006, and the Windsor staff provided excellent care for her, for which the family is very thankful. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Wheaton, IL 60187. Interment will be private at Wheaton Cemetery.
