Virginia "Ginny" Marie Braschel, nee Kuhn, age 86, a former longtime resident of Chicago and currently of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, flew home to Jesus on October 8, 2017, when she died peacefully at home. She was born December 24, 1930, in Chicago and moved to Ponte Vedra Beach with her late husband, Robert Jacob, in 1987.
Ginny worked as a bookkeeper for many years, attended adult education classes at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, served as a volunteer at THE PLAYERS Championship of the PGA TOUR, attended St. Monica Church in Chicago and Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, and was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. An avid reader and arts & crafts enthusiast, she loved knitting, quilting, sewing, painting, cooking, gardening, music, reading the Bible, and praying for her family and friends. Ginny was affectionately known as Dear Meemaw.
Her family members include her son, Robert Gary (Valerie) Braschel of Glen Ellyn, IL; daughters, Debra Braschel of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Vicki Ann (Pierce) Hollingsworth of Wheaton, IL; three grandchildren, Thomas of New Orleans, LA, Nathanael (Petra) of Wheaton, IL and Jessica Hollingsworth of North Hollywood, CA; and two great-grandchildren, Elisabeth "Elsa" Magdalena and Everett Pierce Hollingsworth of Wheaton, IL.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
