Virgil W. Turner, Jr., age 91, a resident of Carol Stream, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 29, 2023, at home. He was born September 22, 1931, the only son of Virgil and Ida Turner.

He grew up in Wisconsin and enlisted in the US Army, serving during the Korean War. He was stationed in Greenland from 1952 until 1954. He met Donna Coburn at a carnival and they were married in 1955. In 1959, they moved to Carol Stream, where they were one of the first residents. He lived there until his death.

Virgil was employed by many trucking companies over the years doing long and local deliveries. When not at work, he enjoyed tinkering in the garage on various projects. He was handy and added an addition to his home with his father, who was a carpenter. He loved his various pets throughout the years, especially his black lab "Lucky". Most of all, he enjoyed his family.

He is survived by his children, Thomas (Kristen) Turner of Murphy, TX, Susan (George) Brouwer of Winfield, Barbara (Gary) Krause of Warrenville, Mary Frost of Elburn, Laura (Fred) Gosbeth of Carol Stream, Steven (Linda) Turner of Glen Ellyn, and Robert (Liberty) Turner of Aurora, 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one sister Reta Shy of Hammond, IN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna in 2019, his parents, his daughter, Julie McCauley, his son, Michael Turner, his granddaughter, Elizabeth Loosli, and 5 sisters.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A funeral mass will be held on Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
