Obituary

Viola Florence Hagen, age 99, a resident of Friendship Village in Schaumburg, died Sunday, November 18. She was born on August 7, 1908 in Sloan, New York to John and Louise Wesp.

In 1931 she married Edward A. Hagen. Together they moved 13 times throughout the east and to Chicago. She loved to travel and was an excelent cook who loved to entertain at her home, especially to those in Christian work.

At the age of eleven she made a commitment to Jesus that she carried for the rest of her life and passed on to her child and grandchildren. She was always an active member of her church and was constantly involved with her family as an encourager and prayer warrior.

She is survived by her daughter, Lois (Henry) Matson, four grandchildren, Patti (Rev. Tim) Bowman, H. Donald Jr. (Cheryl) Matson, Dr. Jonathan (Nadia) Matson, and Carrie (Bill) Meitzler, 16 great-grandchildren, Kristine, Bethany, Rachel (Austin), Hannah, John, Scott, Thomas, Erik, Lauren, Jacob, Carren, Sophia, Jonathan, William, Faith, and Grace. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Elk Grove Baptist Church, 801 Beisner Rd. in Elk Grove Village, where a funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights.
