Victor Meynart (Mejnartowicz), a resident of Roselle, IL died Monday, June 4, 2007 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, IL. He was born June 1, in St. Petersburg, Russia.
During his youth, Victor performed with an opera ensemble and was a soloist as a Bohaterski/Heroic Tenor in Germany, New York, and Chicago. During the Warsaw Uprising Victor fought bravely against Russian and German forces. As a member of the Polish Underground Army he helped many reach freedom and escape Nazi attrocities. Later in his life he worked for Halliburton as a Design Engineer in the nuclear power field.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bernadette C. Meynart; his three daughters, Victoria Meynart, Diana (Ronald Jr.) Hanzel, and Natalie (Scott) Johnston; three grandchildren, Scott A. and Alexis Johnston, and Dylan Hanzel; nephews, Bohdan Meynart, and Leon and Jan Mejnartowicz; grand nephews, Andrew and Patrick Meynart, and Slavomir Mejnartowicz; great-grand nephew, Maricio Meynart; and great-grand niece, Alina Meynart.
A visitation was held on Wednesday, June 6, at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 7th at 2:30 P.M. at St. Petronille Church, 420 Glenwood Ave., in Glen Ellyn, IL. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
