Victor Brown, age 91, a resident of Conyers, GA, and formerly of Elmhurst, died Monday, September 13, at the Remington House in Conyers. He was born December 22, 1912 in Melbourne, Australia.
Mr. Brown celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary in June of this year. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Elmhurst, where he served for many years as a deacon. From 1969 until 2002 they lived in Houston, TX.
In 1942 he joined Kropp Forge Company, where he became Vice-president in 1953, and became president of Kropp Steel Company, Rockford, IL in 1958. Mr. Brown was active in starting the Metropolitan Waste Conversion Company in 1963 in Houston, TX. In 1975 he started Resource Conversion Systems. Over the years, he was given patents related to waste separation.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances; his three children, Nancy (Edward) Wittekind of Winfield, Carol (James) Knapp of Dayton, OH, and Thomas V. (Cheryl) of Conyers, GA; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; his brother, Maurice Brown of Albion, NE; and two sisters, Irene Robinson of Carterville, IL, and Doris Bogert of Latrobe, PA.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Lily Janson and Margaret Jensen and son-in-law, Larry L. Abels.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 10:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 1310 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
