Veronica M. Higgins, age 76, passed away January 1, 2021, at Lexington Health Care Center in Lombard, Illinois.  She was born June 4, 1944 in Morristown, New Jersey to John & Adelaide "Adele" Merkel.

She was a store cashier most of her adult life. She spent her childhood years in Morristown, NJ, and her adolescence in Morris Plains, N.J. She married Richard W. Higgins on Jan. 15, 1966. Her interests were quilting, needle point, and crochet. She loved her family , and was a good friend to all.

She is survived by her children, Ruthanne (Frank) Simonutti of Wheaton and Richard (Liz) Higgins, II of Sheboygan, WI; 3 grandchildren Jenny, Anthony & Jessica and 2 step grandchildren Alex, & Teddy. She has two sisters Deanna Balderson, of Burlington, KY and Joan Swartz, of East Stroudsburg, PA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Higgins.

A private remembrance gathering will be, at a later time.
