Vergil Keel, age 98, of Carol Stream and formerly of Hinsdale died peacefully July 18, 2008 at Windsor Park Manor. He was born August 3, 1909 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to John and Bertha(nee' Bauserman) Keel.

Most of his adult life Vergil was employed by Marshall Field and Company at the State Street Store in Chicago. He raised his family in Hinsdale, living there until his retirement in 1975. He and his wife, Mildred, then moved to Harbert, Michigan where he renewed his love of tennis. He continued to play into his late 80"s.

He is survived by four children, Bill(Cheryl) of Glen Ellyn, Phil(Nancy) of Pinehurst, NC, Bruce(Rae) of Carmel Valley, CA, and Nancy(Ed)Muderlak of Durand, IL; Nine grandchildren, Eleven great-grandchildren and his dear friend and companion Mary Alice Bates.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred, his brother Glenn, his sister Opal Swain, one grandchild, William, and one great-grandchild, Alexandra.

Family will meet with relatives and friends on Friday, July 25, from 10 - 11 AM at the Hinsdale Evangelical Covenant Church, 412 S. Garfield St., Hinsdale, IL 60521. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM.
