Valentina
Login
July 25, 1940 – June 28, 2020
Valentina Login, age 79, a resident of Carol Stream, IL, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2020.
She was born July 25, 1940 in Moscow, Russia to Ivan and Anisia Panichkin. She was born right before the Soviet Union entered WWII. Her father, Ivan, was drafted to the front lines in 1941. He never returned home to his wife and daughter, perishing in one of the war battles.
Valentina was raised by her widowed mom, Anisia, in the post war environment. Someone, risking their life in the atheist country, witnessed to Anisia during that difficult time, and she became a Christian. She also shared the good news with her daughter, Valentina, teaching her to love and trust the Lord.
After graduating from high school, Valentina attended a technical school, where she learned how to design and sew clothes. She loved creating women's coats and enjoyed seeing ladies looking good in custom made outfits.
Valentina was active in the youth ministry of the only evangelical church in Moscow, communist government of the Soviet Union allowed to have. Their ministry was to help the elderly and the sick, get together for worship and Bible study, and attend church services.
On September 3, 1961 Valentina married Mikhail Login, a young man from Ukraine who was drafted to the Soviet Army to work and restore post-war Moscow, whom she met through the youth group at the church where he was able to visit.
Valentina and Mikhail had three children, Tatyana, Mikhail Jr and Svetlana. Anisia, Valentina's mother, lived with them, helping to take care of the children and when she became old and frail, they took care of her.
The family lived in a two-bedroom apartment, which was not big enough for their family, but one of Valentina's gifts was a tremendous gift of hospitality. There were multiple friends and family and other Christian brothers and sisters from all over the Soviet Union, who visited, shared a meal with the family and/or stayed overnight. Valentina and Mikhail had a lot of friends!
In 1991, Valentina and Mikhail, as religious refugees from the Soviet regime, were allowed to come to the United States after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Being in their late 50's it was not an easy transition. However, Valentina worked very hard and learned to drive a car and speak some English. She got a job at The Men's Wearhouse where she was working as a tailor, this time making men look good in their suits.
After Valentina retired from her job at the age of 73, she enjoyed spending time with the family, helping take care of the grandchildren, gardening, visiting friends, and some traveling.
In December of 2018 Valentina was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She decided to follow doctors' advice and go ahead with the recommended treatment, but at the same time, she put all her trust in the Lord, submitting to His will for her in this life.
On June 28, 2020 Valentina went to be with Jesus, whom she trusted and loved all her life. She was surrounded by her family, who took care of her at home.
Valentina is survived by her husband, Mikhail Login, daughter Tatyana (Sergey) Rakhuba, son Mikhail Jr (Vera) Login, daughter Svetlana Login, grandchildren Dmitri Rakhuba, Yevgeniya (Caleb) Condon, Sophia Rakhuba, Victoria (Richard) Williams, Steve (Sussane) Login, Michelle (David) Patrushev, greatgrandchildren Evelyn, Olivia, Isla Condon.
Memorials may be directed to Mission Eurasia for Zhovtantsi Evangelical Church in Ukraine, where the Login family has sponsored to build summer camps for special needs children and orphans.
