Obituary

Thomas Scheiner, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, since 1977, died Monday, July 18, at home. He was born November 24, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

After high school Tom joined the Navy during WWII. He served on a destroyer escort in the Pacific. He graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Civil Engineering. On October 15, 1949 he married Marion Lenz. He worked for the US Corps of Engineers until he retired. In retirement he became a consultant for McGurr Engineering in Wheaton. He served as a village trustee in Glen Ellyn, where they lived from 1956 until 1977. During the Vietnam War he and his family moved to Japan where he did work in Japan and Korea for the Corps of Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, Marion, three sons, Peter (Debbie) of Geneva, Paul (Melanie) of Belleview, Washington, and David (Kathy) of Arlington Heights, and 8 grandchildren, Brandon, Derek, Erin, Kristen, Elizabeth, Dan, Ken and Nick.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 5 to 8 at Hultgren Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 10 am at St. Mark Catholic Church.
