Thomas E. Johnson, age 76, a resident of Wheaton, IL, for 54 years, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Monday, November 15, 2021, at GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, Illinois. He was born July 11, 1945 in Dover, New Jersey.

Tom grew up in Succasunna, New Jersey where he met Sandi Nave, his high school sweetheart, at Roxbury High School. They were married on July 16, 1966 in Succasunna. They moved to Illinois October of 1966 when he was transferred with Bell Laboratories. Following a 30 year career with Bell Labs/AT&T, he enjoyed 19 years as a crossing guard for Wheaton's Pleasant Hill Elementary School, retiring in 2016.

He was a lifelong, devout New York Yankee's Fan. He and Sandi enjoyed camping and travel. They traveled Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica as well as many other Route 66 motor tours. He enjoyed bowling and softball, both playing and coaching his daughters' teams. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family as it grew with the addition of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sandi, his three daughters, Donna (Jerry) Slusher of Wheaton, Lisa (Chris) Bonin of Winfield, and Brenda Johnson of Aurora, Colorado, three grandchildren, Erica, Elizabeth and Jared Slusher and great-granddaughter, Adalee Slusher.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 0S233 Church St., Winfield, IL 60190. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield, Illinois.
