Terry C.
Collins
April 10, 1953 – August 18, 2020
Terry Clifford Collins, age 67, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died August 18, 2020, in Winfield, Illinois surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born April 10, 1953 in Rapid City, South Dakota on a beautiful day.
Terry was born and lived on a farm and then moved to Rapid City in his younger years. He was an entrepreneur starting at age 7 which continued most of his life. He worked construction primarily pouring and finishing concrete mostly working with brothers, nephews, and also his son Cameron. This vast work experience and love for concrete motivated him to return to college as a 38 year old freshman to pursue his civil engineering degree. While attending South Dakota School of Mines and Technology he helped lead and pave the way in revolutionizing the concrete canoe competition. After coming in first place in the national competition the first year he led the team with the guidance of MR Hanson. He and his brother Kenny Collins were both inducted into the Concrete Canoe Hall of Fame in 2020. He has been an inspiration to many starting with Kenny Collins who followed in his footsteps. After graduation his first job offer led him to Chicago. Not long after he met and fell in love with his wife Miriam and was married. He has had several jobs over the years but none have compared to his incredible experience at V3 Companies who treated him with the utmost respect and kindness. He was known as the concrete encyclopedia/ guru. He also was the best father anyone could have been blessed with.
Terry is survived by his caring, loving wife Miriam Bardill-Collins of Wheaton and his caring, loving children Cameron Collins, Samantha Ann Powers, Madonna Collins, Brandon Bardill, and Caitlin Bardill. His brothers and sisters Lorraine Rega, Loren Collins, Cheryl Wiles (Barry), Lynden Collins (Donna), Jolene Schanaman (Dan), Kenneth Collins (Connie). Also too many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends to list.
He is preceded in death by Clifford Collins and Doris Collins (Parents), James Lyden "Jimbo" Collins, Jason Neil, and Dustin Alexander (Nephews).
