Susanna Van Berkel, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, IL, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton, IL. She was born on September 29, 1922 in the Netherlands.

Susanna loved children and worked as a nurse in an orphanage. She met her husband, William, when she was a young girl. William had traveled to Wheaton, IL as a young man, but returned to his home town to find a wife. They were soon married and returned to Wheaton to begin their life together. They shared a love for missions and Sue supported many missionaries, even after William died in 2005. She was a member of the Wheaton Christian Reformed Church.

She is survived by her brother, Adrian Van Gool, of the Netherlands; and a number of friends from church.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 3 at 10:00 at the Wheaton Christian Reformed Church, 711 E. Harrison St. in Wheaton. Friends may visit from 10:00 until the time of service. Interment will be held at Wheaton Cemetery.
