Sue Dusinberre
Hodgson
February 26, 1940 – July 30, 2018
Sue D. Hodgson, 78. Sue Dusinberre Hodgson died July 30, 2018 at Oak Trace Health Center, Downers Grove, Illinois after courageously battling Parkinson's Disease for more than 20 years. Her dear friend, Bev Cable Becker was at her side. Sue was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Hodgson, who died June 11, 2018.
Sue was born February 26, 1940 in New York City to Alice Ortgies Dusinberre and Henry Warner Dusinberre. She graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk, Va. and the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary (now Old Dominion University). In the 1960s, she began her career working for Time, Inc. using statistical software to assist in selling advertising in Time Magazine. She married Vincent Hodgson, March 13, 1971 in the Church-in-the-Gardens, Forest Hills, NY. In April, 1971 they moved to Arlington Heights, Il.
Sue held numerous senior positions, including Director, Mid-West Operations and Special Projects Consultant for IMS (Interactive Market Systems). She served as a Broker Associate for Baird & Warner, Arlington Heights and later as a Real Estate Appraiser. Sue loved music. She played the piano, and late in life began learning the mountain and hammered dulcimers. She sang in the Granby High School chorus and several church choirs. Near the end of her life, she participated in a resident's singing group at Oak Trace. In the 1990s she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease which ultimately took her life. Even after death, Sue continued her fight against Parkinson's Disease by donating her brain to Parkinson's Disease Research. Friends and family remember her as cheerful, warmhearted, loyal, generous, bright, kind, well-read, a wonderful sister, a faithful friend, a good teacher and mentor, a good sport, ready to comfort those she loved. She will always be in our hearts.
She is survived by her sister, Sara Alice (Sally) Knapp (Arnold Patashnick) of Albany, New York and by nine cousins.
A Memorial Service for Sue and Vincent Hodgson will be held at 7PM on Friday, Oct 12, 2018 at the DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church in Naperville, Il. Interment will be with Vincent in Wellsboro Cemetery in Wellsboro, PA.
