Steven E. Willhite, age 58, a resident of Glen Ellyn, IL, died on Sunday, January 17, at Glenoaks Medical Center in Glendale Heights, IL. He was born August 1, 1951 in Centralia, IL.
Steve Willhite was a man who loved life and those around him. He was a man who never took his life or those around him for granted. He always had a way to make people laugh, prank calls, practical jokes, Youtube videos and his always present clever wit.
You could always find him in his computer room playing games, watching Zatoichi moves, messing around on Facebook and getting upset because the clock was ticking down on his favorite game Bejeweled. His computer room was his sanctuary, covered in guitars, Samurai swords, Zatoichi posters and of course Elvis.
Steve loved his work and adored the people he worked with at Aspen. This job was a dream job to him and the friends he had there were friends forever. He never seemed happier than when he was going out with the guys for poker or a game of disc golf. This was a time in his life that he was truly happy and appreciated those around him. Right now he is looking down on us smiling because he knows everything will be all right.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joan; two children, Emily Willhite of Milwaukee, WI, and Eric Willhite of Glen Ellyn, IL; his parents, Richard and Dorothy Willhite of Glen Ellyn, IL; his sister, Joan Weinhandl of Glen Ellyn, IL; two brothers, Richard Willhite, and David (Debbie) Willhite; and many nieces and nephews.
Services and interment are private.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to the family.
