Steven B.
Most
March 25, 1958 – November 11, 2023
Steven B. Most, age 65, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away November 11, 2023. He was born March 25, 1958 in Melrose Park, IL to Robert Bruce & Carol Most.
With his mother as a school teacher, Steve was bookish by nature. This led to him thriving at York High School where he graduated in 1976 and made his way to University of Illinois. Steve majored in electrical engineering and went on to earn his MBA at Northern Illinois University. Yet, he would say the highlight of his college experience is meeting his eventual wife, Jane.
Jane and Steve were married on October 10, 1981. In 1988 Steve and Jane had their first son, Andrew Steven Most. Three years later in 1991, Erik Philip came along. The family moved out to Wheaton, Illinois where their lives together blossomed. Steve was an instructive, intentional, and endearing father. Annual traditions defined his relationship with his sons – from campouts, to golf tournaments, to the Big Ten Tournament every year – he created a childhood of adventure and enthusiasm for his two boys.
Steve's proficiency and fascination with technology led him to work the majority of his career at Motorola, earning a patent in the field of communication technology. Yet beyond work, this began to define his reputation in the best way! Affectionately referred to as "inspector gadget" by some, Steve was always the guy to call when caught in a digital snag. Steve masterfully subdued every computational conundrum presented by friends and family. He was also fascinated by photography and videography. Steve was the first to capture and curate whatever visual story needed to be told. Football highlight tapes were one of the best expressions of his skill.
These skills endearingly transferred to his role as "Pop Pop" when his four grandchildren came along. Pop Pop always had the best toys – plentiful gizmos and gadgets filled their little hearts with wonder and joy. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jane; his sons Andrew (Andrea) & Erik (Meagan) Most; his four grandchildren: Brock, Cael, August & Isla Most; his mother Carol Most; and his brother Thomas Most.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert Bruce Most.
