Stanley J. Sowa, age 90, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died January 12, 2017, at home. He was born April 29, 1926 in Chicago, IL.
Stanley was married to his beloved wife of recent memory, Theresa, for 62 years. He was a devoted family man. His sense of humor was legendary among his community of friends in Florida as well as in the Chicagoland area. Until his sudden illness he remained very active and independent, and loved being with family, taking long walks, and working in his garden. He was a World War II veteran.
He is survived by his beloved children, Cindy (Russ), Bonnie (the late Ken), Jill (Bruce), Dan (Jan), Larry (Diane) and Laura (Rob); his cherished grandchildren, Claire (Tim), Elliott (Sara), Kate (Pat), Kevin (Nickie), Philip (Rachel), Christopher, the late Ryan, Michael, James, Thomas and Cayce; great grandchild, Colby; step-grandchildren, Ken (Robin), Kara (Gabe), Bryce, Sami, and Jackie; great-grandson, Colby; and father-in-law of the late Steve Wilson.
A visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be private at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
