Sophia "Teddy" Barskis' Obituary
Sophia "Teddy" Barskis, 97, was born Dec. 12, 1914 and died Feb. 20, 2012. She was dearly loved and cherished by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Carole Weber and son Robert (Dolores); grandchildren Peter (Rachel) Weber and Anna (Adam) Sedelmaier; great-grandson Gavin Sedelmaier; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Judith, parents Anthony and Amelia Verbeck, brother Bernie and sister Emily Lausch.
She was Lithuanian and proud of it, one of the pioneer members of St. John Fisher Church, a longtime employee of Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council, and in her later years a resident at Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Mar. 31 at 10 a.m. at St. John Fisher Church, 10234 S. Washtenaw, Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be welcome in her memory to the Benevolent Fund, 124 Windsor Park Dr., Carol Stream, IL 60188.
