Thelma L. "Smitty" Einwalter, age 80, died of natural causes surrounded by her family and friends at Central Dupage Hospital in Winfield on Thursday, February 28. She was born September 24, 1927 in Battle Creek MI.
Smitty was a long time resident of Wheaton, having moved there in 1961. Shortly after arriving in Wheaton she started selling Avon products and continued for the next 41 years. She worked at both Central Dupage Hospital and Gary Wheaton Bank. She was known as a natural organizer, and also as a very out-going and friendly person who was well loved and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her children, Jan (Glenn) Ohlson, Dan ( Barb) Poormon, and Lee Ann ( Doug) Narup; her grandchildren, Kara (Kasey) Klaas, Dana and Anna Ohlson, and Marc and Grant Poormon; and one great grandchild, Kate Leeta Klaas.
Her family will host a celebration-open house Saturday March 1, from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton.
