Smaranda Marin, age 82, a resident of Naperville, IL, died Monday, March 25, 2019, at home. She was born on October 4, 1936 to John and Ana Gorgan in Romania.

In 1968 she married Vasile Marin and they lived together 48 years in peace and love. They loved children but God did not give them any. For a short period of time they participated in the worship services of the Evangelical Brethren and then they moved to the Baptist Church of Ploesti. In this church they were baptized together in April of 1974.

In February of 1989, Smaranda and Vasile Marin emigrated to the United States in Pennsylvania. Two years later the Marins moved to Chicago, called by some friends. Here they became members of the First Baptist Church of Wheaton (now called Highpoint Church), but they participated very frequently in the worship services of the Romanian Baptist Church.

On Monday, March 25, 2019, our Lord called her to her eternal home. She passed away peacefully. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord.... that they rest from their labors and their works do follow them". Revelation 14:13

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from 10:30 a.m. until the start of a funeral service to be held at 11:00 a.m. at Highpoint Church, 1310 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
