Shirley Marie Roeing, age 92, a resident of Belmont Village in Carol Stream, IL, formerly of Carillon in Plainfield, IL, Sterling and Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was born February 5, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN.
Shirley grew up on Chicago's Northwest Side and was a graduate of Steinmetz High School. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947 during World War II. After the war, Shirley married and raised a family of three children while she worked as a licensed hair dresser and beautician. She subsequently worked in a variety of office clerical positions all the while furthering her formal education. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church. She was an avid and accomplished bridge player. She'll be remembered for having an incredible heart for others, never turning away an outstretched hand.
She is survived by her children Richard (Rebecca Donna) Roeing of Rutland, IL, Randall (Diane) Roeing of Wheaton, IL; her grandchildren Jason (Mandy) Roeing, Jonathan (Kim) Roeing, Michael Roeing-Donna, Jaclyn Roeing (fiancé, Michael Greshko), Elaina Roeing and Kathleen (Tyler) Roach; her great-grandchildren Kahlan and Jordan Roeing: her siblings Virginia Walsh of Schaumburg, IL, Gerald Walsh of Downers Grove, IL; her sister-in-law Verna, of Fruita, CO; and many niece, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband Richard (Dick) S. Roeing; her daughter Karen (the late John) White; her parents William and Hildur (nee Johnson) Walsh; her Siblings William Walsh, Marsella Walsh; her brother-in-law Warren Stone; her sister-in-law Jean Walsh.
Interment will be private
