Shirley Lee Nelson (Sanford) also Chace, age 100, a resident of Glen Ellyn, IL, died January 9, 2018, at Brookdale of Glen Ellyn in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, previously of Canton and Kansas City, Missouri. She was born August 25, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri.
She worked for Credit Bureau of Greater Kansas City for 30 years. She liked to garden, shoot photography. She was a seamstress, having sewn two of her granddaughter's wedding dresses. She also enjoyed arts and crafts.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Ruth (John L.) Charlton, and Robert (Claudia) Chace; her grandchildren, Marjorie Lee (John) Voll, Sandra Jean (Mark) Lawinger, Jeffrey Carter (Mary) Charlton, Stephen (Pam) Chace, Paul (Tina) Chace, and Jennifer Chace (Mickey) Doyle; her great-grandchildren John and Samantha Voll, Peter and Jack Lawinger, and Alyssa and John Charlton, Hannah, Cole, Cameron, Nathan, Emily, and Gavin Chace, Hailey and Shawn Doyle; her great great-grandchild Kennedy Lawinger who was born 12/27/2017
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd Carter Chase, and Melvin O. Nelson; her parents Helene Sanford and George Sanford; her sister Ruth Ruilmann Willman.
A private interment will take place at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City Missouri.
