Shelonda D. Griffin's life journey began on July 9, 1977 in Chicago, Illinois.  She was born to Mr. James Moore and Mary Ann Straughter, both precede her in death. Also preceded her in death were her loving grandmother Mrs. Lee Ester Hayes and two uncles: Carl Hayes, and Charles Straughter.

Shelonda was an only child but she has four cousins, James, Thaddaeus, Caralantis, and Elijah, whom she always addressed as her brothers.

Shelonda grew up on the West Side of Chicago but attended Wheaton Christian Center Academy under the leadership of our beloved late Pastor Carlton Arthurs.  Once the school was closed she attended and graduated from Austin Career Academy High School of Chicago.

She met Darrian "Smokey" Griffin in November 1997. They married on December 24, 2001, and have been married 23 years. From this union two beautiful daughters were born, Shamarrian and Darriana.  She worked at CVS Pharmacy until she began to experience health challenges.

Shelonda's journey ended on August 7, 2024.  Cherishing her memory are her beloved husband, Darrian "Smokey", two daughters, Shamarrian and Darriana Griffin, step-daughter, Shanice Griffin, two aunts, Zeraline and Glenda Faye Hayes, one uncle, Tyrone Hayes, Sr. of Chicago, James Henderson (Dominique), Thaddaeus Henderson (Natalie), Caralantis Henderson (Sterling), Elijah Davis, cousins, Shavone Garrett of San Diego, CA, Tierra Hayes, McKyre Hayes, Tyrone Hayes, Jr., Tyrice Hayes, Tamoura Hayes, all of IL, Angel Dupree Davis of Lima, OH, sister-in-law, Sherise Newman (Bobby), brothers-in-law, Charles Griffin (Patricia) of Chicago, Joseph (Toya) of Murfreesboro, TN, Denon (Amber) of Iowa and Darius Griffin, two best friends, Tosha Herbert of GA and Maria Salazar of IL, and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews including her precious God-daughter, Payton Brielle Stevens and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Wheaton Christian Center, North Ave. and Schmale Rd. in Carol Stream, IL.
