Shelly L. Allen, age 43, a resident of Wheaton for 25 years, died Friday evening, September 26, at home from complications of ALS. She was born September 3, 1965 in Kirksville, Missouri to Richard and Carolyn Allen.

Ms. Allen graduated with Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Wheaton College. She was employed by the college for 16 years, most recently as an IT specialist. She was a founding member of Church of the Savior in West Chicago, IL, where she had been a vestry member and served as treasurer. She enjoyed hiking, golf, softball, travel and the beautiful outdoors. She dearly loved her cats, Tim, Linus, and Lucy.

She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Allen of Missouri, two aunts Vivian (Gene) Olson, and Beverly (Archie) Opie and numerous cousins. Shelly was loved and supported by her many friends in the Wheaton area.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard, in 1980 and her grandparents, Ralph and Stella Menke, and Irl and Mildred Allen.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, from 5-8 pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 30, at 10:00 am at Faith Community Church (meeting place of Church of the Savior), 910 Main St., West Chicago, IL. Interment will take place in Missouri.
