Sharon Thompson, age 67, a resident of St. Joseph, MI, and formerly of Wheaton, IL, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Stevensville, MI. She was born November 17, 1946 in Greeley, CO.
Sharon worked as an executive administrative assistant for many years, most recently at Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church and also at Blanchard Alliance Church. She was a long time member at the Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church and served in many roles there. She enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing, gardening and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Thompson; her daughter, Jennifer (Dwight) Semler of Wheaton, IL; two grandchildren, Meghan and Connor Scanlan; and two sisters, Shalene (Lee) Martinez and Debbie (Mike) Wall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Joyce Swetzig; her sister, Karen Barkley; and her son Gregg Thompson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at
Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church
