Sharon Lee Colwell of Elgin, IL peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 4, 2022. Sharon was a devoted wife to her husband of 51 years, Tom Colwell, whom she is survived by. Sharon was a loving mother to Christine (Michael) Dille and Joy (Aaron) Gates. She was a caring grandmother to: Joshua (Allison) Dille, Nathanael (Colleen) Dille, Andrew Dille, Julia Dille, Callie Gates, Avery Gates, Archer Gates, Ryder Gates and Maverick Gates.

Sharon was born in Chicago, IL on November 22, 1948 to parents Rodney and Elaine (Osuch) Schaid. She was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her siblings, David (Candy) Schaid and Karen Schaid Wagner.

Sharon graduated from Loyola University with a bachelor's degree in English. After spending several years teaching, she stayed home with her children. Later she worked in association management at the American Dental Association, where her father, sister, and even her daughter (for a short time) worked. She continued working for various ministries and non-profits including Christianity Today, the American Veterinary Medical Association, ISACA, and Living Hope Church.

In her free time, she enjoyed gourmet cooking, gardening, watercolor painting, arts and crafts with her children and grandchildren, water aerobics, and writing. Sharon loved God and sought to serve him in many ways, participating in church, Bible studies, women's ministries and a mission trip. Over the years, she also authored several articles, devotions, and books, including her recent release of a devotional for fellow ALS patients and their families and caregivers entitled A Living Savior.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 , from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187 . A Celebration of Life service will be held at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave., West Chicago, IL 60185 , on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. After the reception, relatives & friends are invited to meet at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421 , for the interment at 2:30 p.m.
