Sharlene Current, resident of Glen Ellyn,  formerly of Lanark and Villa Park, Illinois, passed away on Friday, October 26, at Glen Ellyn, Illinois at the age of 82, one day short of her 83rd birthday. Sharlene was born in Ellsworth, Illinois, to parents Joseph and Ruth Mock. Sharlene and her nine siblings were raised in Bloomington. After the death of her mother when she was nine, she then moved to Urbana where she became a foster child of Benjamin and Edith Koehler. While Sharlene attended Urbana High School, she met Howard Current who later became her husband. Howard and Sharlene were married in 1954 and Sharlene became beloved mother of three children who were raised in Broadview and Villa Park. Sharlene worked as an interior decorator for Sears and JC Penney, where she demonstrated her talents in home decorating.

After retiring from decorating, Sharlene and Howard moved to Lake Carroll where they enjoyed many good years. Sharlene enjoyed rides on her pontoon boat at Lake Carroll, creating her beautiful flower gardens, and entertaining people at her home.

Sharlene was preceded in death by her husband Howard Current and her grandson Christopher Huddleston. She was also preceded in death by  brothers Wendell, Welby, Harlan, Gordon, and Robert, as well as sisters Jean, Marilee, and Elaine Cassella.

Sharlene is survived by her son, Gary (Laura ) Current of Wheaton, her daughter Candace Current of Palatine,and daughter Julia Huddleston of Columbia, South Carolina. Grandchildren are Megan Rutledge (Tyler) of Milwaukee, Amanda Zider (Aaron) of Palatine, Hilary Beary of West Virginia,and Sam Huddleston of Chapin, South Carolina.

Great-grandchildren are Grant and Theo Rutledge (Megan), and Colin and Caden Beary (Hilary).

Sharlene is also survived by her brother Yale Mock.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 2 PM until time of service at 7 PM at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, Illinois 60187. Interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery, 611 E Pennsylvania Ave, Champaign, Illinois on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 1:30 PM.
