Shantay C. Smith, age 27, a resident of Carol Stream, IL, was called home to the Lord on Monday, December 29, 2014, at home in Carol Stream, IL after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 30, 1987 in Chicago, IL.

Shantay graduated from Wheaton North High School in Wheaton, IL, as a member of the class of 2006. On January 6th, 2007 she gave birth to her son, Deonte Smith. After high school she worked in retail until she was diagnosed with brain cancer. She put others first and was always there for her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed listening to music, joking, laughing, joy riding and spending time with her son, family and friends. At a young age she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by her parents, Patricia Smith and Tommie Turner of Carol Stream, IL; her son, Deonte Smith; her sister, Shemeka Smith; her brother, David Jasper; her paternal grandmother, Patricia Turner; her maternal grandparents, Lizzie and Robert Smith; two aunts, Denise (David) Carter, and Yolanda Smith; two uncles, Curtis Smith and Nazear (Cheryl) Turner; and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by two aunts, Tavara and Antionette Turner; an uncle, Zuri Turner, and her paternal grandfather, Tommie Turner.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 2:30 p.m. until the start of a funeral service to be held at 3:00 p.m. at Parkview Community Church , 764 St. Charles Road, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Interment will be private.
