Scott Prevette Hanselman, age 42, a resident of Chicago and formerly of Wheaton, died Wednesday, April 26 at home. He was born in the Republic of Congo on August 16, 1963 to Paul and Ruth Hanselman.
Scott attended Friends Bible College in Kansas and then graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb with a Bachelors Degree in Arts. While at Northern, he and a business partner created a clothing line called Mode Zero. Following college he moved to Chicago and free lanced in Graphic Arts and Interior Design. In recent years he has worked as a Graphic Artist at DePaul University in Chicago.
He was very committed to his friends, his family and his church. He was a member of Wicker Park Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir and officiated at services. He was pursuing studies in Theology with the desire to enter the ministry.
He is survived by his parents, Paul and Ruth Hanselman of Wheaton, six siblings, Nancy (Tim) Navratil of MN, Paul (Cheryl) Hanselman of CT, Peter (Jan) Hanselman of Carol Stream, Lois (Bruce) Badger of Wheaton, Marty (Byron) Nielsen of CO, and Becky Hanselman of Wheaton, his beloved dog Nina, and many nieces and nephews. Scott will be missed by his many friends, including his best friend Julie Erbe.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 30, from 2 until 7 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 1 at 2:30 p.m. at Gary Memorial United Methodist Church, Main and Seminary St. in Wheaton.
