Sadie Blomberg, age 96, a resident of Carol Stream, Illinois passed away on February 1st, 2023. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 28th, 1926, to James and Margaret Lemon.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. Her family attended South Shore Baptist Church in Chicago where she met her future husband, Dave, in primary church. She graduated from South Shore High School in 1944 and then worked for a year in the blast furnace division of United States Steel to earn money for college. She attended Wheaton College where she majored in Biology and served as President of Williston Dorm.

Following her graduation in 1949, Sadie taught for two years at a Christian high school in Muskegon, Michigan while Dave completed his MBA at the University of Chicago. On June 22nd, 1951, they were married. She worked as a substitute teacher until their daughter, Janet, was born in 1955.

In 1964, Sadie and Dave bought a cottage at Bethany Beach. Remodeling the cottage, enjoying the beach and teaching God's Word were part of these years. She was one of 12 women asked to organize a follow-up program as part of the 1971 Billy Graham Crusade. Sadie also launched a new type of women's Bible study at Moraine Valley Church called Coffee Break using special interests to draw women from outside the church. She served as the President of the Fairview Auxiliary in Downers Grove, Illinois (the retirement community where her mother lived).

Life changed dramatically for Sadie in 1976, when Dave's job with Waste Management sent them to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It brought many changes, challenges and adjustments. During her time in Saudi and in retirement Sadie travelled extensively and she and Dave had many wonderful adventures and stories to tell. In 2010, Sadie and Dave moved to Windsor Park where she enjoyed new and old friends, great music and wonderful programs. College Church became her home church, and she so appreciated its commitment to teaching God's Word.

Sadie was a loving wife and mother. She was passionately committed to her extended family, to hospitality and to others. She loved people. She hosted many, many Christmas Eve Smorgasbords for the family. Friends and family could always count on a birthday card from her. She enjoyed reading, watching sports (especially March Madness), Sudoku and playing piano. She was a valued friend whose help and advice was often sought out. She was committed to prayer, to God's Word (both living it and teaching it) and followed Him throughout her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet, brother Jim (Ann) Lemon, six nieces/nephews and thirteen grandnieces/grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dave Blomberg, by her sister, Emily (the late Carl) Pierson, and by her niece, Laura (Steve) Glassman.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A memorial service will be held at College Church, 332 E. Seminary, Wheaton, IL 60187, on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. The service will be livestreamed beginning at 1:30 p.m. CST through this link: https://youtube.com/live/YAWE7SCeto0 . Burial will be private at Wheaton Cemetery.
