IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Kay
Schneider
September 26, 1963 – December 23, 2025
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Sandra Kay (née Blazina) Schneider of Winfield, IL who left us peacefully on December 23, 2025 at the age of 62, having lived with the effects of a stroke since 2019. Born on September 26, 1963 in Columbus, OH, Sandy brought a sense of style to every corner of her world.
Sandy graduated from Hinsdale Central High School and earned a BA in Communications from Elmhurst College (now Elmhurst University).
A natural at bringing people together, she built a successful career as a meeting planner/event professional for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. This was also where Sandy met her husband, Pete. They were married in 1994. Sandy had a unique gift for turning any event into a memorable celebration, approaching both professional gatherings and personal parties with innovation and flair.
Sandy's home reflected her creativity, always beautifully decorated for every season and every event. Sandy was the quintessential hostess, finding immense joy in entertaining. Whether she was sourcing the perfect centerpiece or selecting the ideal accessory, Sandy had an effortless style.
An extraordinary shopper, Sandy had an eye for a good deal - a "screamin' deal" in her words - and unusual finds. Known for her originality and attention to detail, she once channeled her passion into an antique-and-home accessories booth at a local shop. Sandy possessed a natural flair for fashion, dressing with a distinctive chic that was entirely her own.
A talented and inventive cook, Sandy's original recipe for stuffed shrimp was featured in Taste of Home magazine. Sandy could pull together a beautiful, appetizing spread with 30-minutes' notice, using whatever ingredients were at hand. She taught us that every gathering, big or small, deserves a touch of glamour and heart. Joining her mother in the kitchen, Sandy's daughter, Alex, learned innovative cooking from a virtuoso.
As a lifelong dog lover, Sandy shared her heart and home with a succession of cherished companions, including Quincy, Winston, and Pumpkin.
Sandy was a loving wife to her devoted husband, Pete Schneider; an inspiring mother to their daughter, Alexandra Joy; and a cherished sister to Karen (Kevin) Lynch of Downers Grove, IL, and Cheryl Peters of Port Washington, WI. Sandy is also survived by her sister-in-law Karen Schneider, brother-in-law James (Marcia) Schneider and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Regina Blazina.
Sandy leaves behind a legacy of warmth and hospitality. Remember Sandy with joy – join the party, raise a glass, and find beauty everywhere.
