Samuel Eliab
Johnson
August 29, 1987 – August 4, 2020
Samuel Eliab Johnson passed from this earth on August 4, 2020, only days after his aggressive cancer diagnoses. He wanted to fight, but God lovingly showed him it was time and carried him in His arms. Samuel brought joy with no measure when he became the son of Andy & Liz Johnson of Wheaton on August 29, 1987, their firstborn.
"But is it powerful?" This was Samuel's favorite question when he was a little boy. He loved trucks, cars, bikes, trains, planes- anything that had power and could GO! He moved from building with blocks to intricate toys that were battery operated to building his own computers.
He received his college degree from Waldorf University. He would want his teachers at The Ark Preschool, Wheaton Christian Grammar School, Franklin Middle School, Wheaton North High School, and his beloved tutor Sam Bowen to know that they made all the difference. From those places, he made many dedicated, loving friends.
Samuel had a servant's heart that was filled when he could provide help to others. He volunteered at Peoples Resource Center, and his favorite job was working in Dining Services at the DuPage Convalescent Center. His jobs after college included installing low voltage wiring and maintaining homes for the most fragile among us. He always had a positive attitude, smile, and no complaints.
He loved and was loved by so many people on earth: grandparents David & Jeanne Johnson; siblings Leah (Jay) Gearhart, Caleb, and Chloe; wife Molly; aunts Valorie (John) Havercamp and Kay (Vic) Brunner; uncles Mark (Karen) Johnson and Pete (Vickie) Johnson; his cousins Amie (Justin), Jarrett (Missy), Landon(Katie), Lance, Luke, Elizabeth and Max; and Great Uncle Ernie (Gwen) and their children.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020, which would have been Samuel's 33rd birthday, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Following the visitation, a Memorial Service celebrating his life will be live streamed at 3:00 p.m.
All are invited to view a live stream of the services.
Instead of flowers, Samuel would have appreciated memorial gifts being directed to the American Cancer Society or DuPage Care Center (formerly DuPage Convalescent Center).
Samuel loved God with all his heart. He would want this for you too. Loving God – "is it powerful?" Samuel would say YES (Romans 15:13). Until we see him again…
