Faircloth
June 22, 1921 – November 23, 2020
Dr. Samuel D. Faircloth, age 99, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, IL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 23, 2020, at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, Illinois. He was born June 22, 1921 in Aurora to Samuel and Florence Faircloth.
Sam grew up in Aurora and graduated from West Aurora High School. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated from Wheaton College. He went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctorate Missiology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He married Arliss Albright on August 17, 1944. During WWII, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Chaplain Corps in Italy as a Captain.
In 1949, he and Arlie began their missionary work in Portugal which continued for 36 years, until 1985. During that time he founded a seminary and planted a number of churches in the Lisbon area. The last five years of his ministry he spent in the Netherlands, serving as the Dean of Students and a professor at Tyndale Theological Seminary.
In 1990, he and Arlie moved to Windsor Park, and in retirement, he returned a couple of times a year to teach classes at Tyndale. He also enjoyed teaching Bibles classes at Windsor.
His passion for Youth For Christ ministries led to a weekly prayer meeting with Chicago area YFC directors. He was a member of College Church in Wheaton. After Arlie passed away in 2002, Sam dedicated his time to writing his autobiography called "All the Days Of My Life."
He is survived by his wife, Betty Crippen Faircloth, seven daughters, Rebecca (Stanley) Shoger of Hampton, IL, Martha (Daryl) Conklin of Warren, OH, Priscilla (Robert) Kohler of Keller, TX, Ruth Todd of West Chicago, IL, Elizabeth (Daniel) Dye of Anchorage, AK, Anne Cronin of Westerville, OH, and Miriam Henrikson of Glen Ellyn, IL and 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, his brother, Richard (Melva) Faircloth and his sister, Miriam (Marlin) Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Arliss, his wife Ruth, his sisters, Jean Johnson and Doris Hansen, and his parents.

Private interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, Illinois.
