Sara "Sally" Nordell, age 92, a resident of Wheaton for 45 years, died Saturday, January 28, at Wynscape Nursing Center in Wheaton. She was born January 9, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA.
She was an active member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ in Wheaton. She was also involved with the Wheaton Senior Group and an avid Bridge player. A lifelong learner, she attended many classes at College of DuPage well into her eighties. A loving grandmother, she made every effort to attend her grandchildren's sporting events and music concerts. She lived to enjoy the birth of her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emmett Burdick in 1962; her second husband, Robert Nordell in 1992; and three brothers.
She is survived by her two children, Susan (Jim) Crabtree of Wheaton, and Paul (Cathy) Burdick of Batavia; four grandchildren, Janelle (Brady) Knight, Bryan (Jenna) Crabtree, Christa Burdick, and Rachel Burdick; and four great-grandchildren, Brevin and Abby Knight, and Alayna and Adriana Crabtree.
She is also survived by family born to her second husband, Robert Nordell, including, Pat Nordell, and Nancy Quirin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, at 10:30 A.M at St. Matthew United Church of Christ, 1420 S. Gables Blvd., in Wheaton.
