Ruth Elizabeth "Bets" Wilson, age 86, a resident of Hudson, Florida and formerly of Troy, Michigan, died on Monday, January 26, in Wheaton, Illinois. She was born on March 29, 1922 in Flint, MI.
Ruth served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army during WWII. While serving in the Army she met Earl Wilson whom she married in 1944. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling the world and was a member of the Nomads Travel Club. She had been a member of the Detroit Yacht Club and enjoyed yachting all over the Great Lakes. She attended St. Mary Church in Greencove Springs, FL.
She is survived by her husband, Earl, nine children, Earl (Terri) Wilson III of Kansas City, MO, William J. (Kathy) Wilson of Madison Heights, MI, Susan Wilson of Bloomfield, MI, Anne (Dan) MacShane of Roselle, IL, Margaret "Peg" (Mike) Gerlaude of Highland, MI, Janet Wilson (Kevin Clay) of Highland Village, TX, Pat (Henry) Messett of San Francisco, CA, Kathy (Ron) Leach of Maple Park, IL and Rick (Jeanette) Wilson of Denver, CO, 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Walter Church, 130 W. Pine St. in Roselle, IL. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church. Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
