Obituary

Ruth Weber, age 89, a resident of Belmont Village, Carol Stream, Illinois, died Saturday, July 4, 2020. She was born December 4, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Andrew Jr and Anna Walaskay.

Ruth grew up in Detroit surrounded by extended family of grandparents, four uncles and two aunts and their respective families, who all had committed their lives to Christ beginning with her grandfather, Andrew Walaskay Sr, who chose to follow Christ in 1909.

She met the love of her life, John Weber IV, a WWII veteran, (having passed in 2016) whose own father, John Weber III, chose to follow Christ in 1925 followed by his wife, 4 daughters and, of course, son John IV. The Walaskay's and the Weber's together brought a great legacy of following Christ. Together Ruth and John IV lived lives loving God and loving others and had 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren to continue the legacy of following Christ.

During her life, Ruth exhibited God-given gifts of art, master baking, sewing, and loving her family. She is remembered as living a life of helping others, having a determined, yet non-confrontational spirit, going way beyond the extra-mile to do nice things, especially for her grandchildren. She is most importantly remembered as a remarkable woman with many gifts and talents that she shared with others. Her greatest gift was her unwavering faith. She prayed unceasingly for her family and friends, and lived her faith through loving others. She will be greatly missed. She was a rare gem.

Ruth is survived by her sister Anne O'Neil; children John V (Linda), Michael (Marna), and Marianne Thompson (Shelton III); grandchildren Tracy, Tricia, John VI, David,Holly, Shelton IV, Weston, Harrison and Trenton; and great-grandchildren Jacob, Layla, Seth, Kathryn, Liliana and John VII.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be send to KidsAlive in the Domican Republic , in support of Ruth's grandson Shelton Thompson IV's full time mission.
