Ruth E. Roosa, age 84, a resident of West Chicago for 57 years, died peacefully Saturday, August 7 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 27, 1925 in Chicago to Tosten and Martha Kjemhus.
On April 28, 1945 Ruth married Arnold Roosa in Chicago. They built their home in West Chicago in 1953 and raised three daughters. She was active in various churches including Wheaton Evangelical Free Church and Faith Community Church in West Chicago. She was passionate about family history and was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She was loved and adored by all she met.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold, her daughters, Judith VanZanten of West Chicago, Patricia (Kim) Wall of Montgomery, and Deborah (Steven) Ferguson of West Chicago, seven grandchildren, Msgt. Bryan (Sara) VanZanten, Michael (Jennie) Wall, Steven (Linnea) Ferguson II, Daniel Ferguson, Timothy Wall, Melissa (Param) Ferguson-Thadani, and Sarah (Michael) Clark, five great-grandchildren, Steven Ferguson III, Jacob Wall, Nathan Ferguson, Shaun Wall, and Lillian Clark, and three step-great-grandchildren, Brandyn, Mikey, and Nicole Baluga.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and a son-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
