Ruth E. Olberg, age 94, a resident of Wheaton for over 20 years, died Monday, October 9, at Wynscape Nursing Center in Wheaton. She was born July 10, 1912 in Norway, IL.

Ruth was the fifth of eleven children born to Peter and Ada Kallem. She was a member at Hauge Lutheran Church in Chicago. When she moved to Wheaton she was actively involved at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church and volunteered in the church nursery. She volunteered at the Evangelical Child and Family Agency (ECFA), and in the library at the Wiesbrook Elementary School in Wheaton, and served on the board and volunteered at the Lutheran Day Nursery in Chicago. She loved sewing and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four sons, Peter (Arlene), Robert (Gwen), Lowell (Helen), and Melvin (Bonnie); 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orrie (Florence) Kallem, and Clarion (Ann) Kallem; two sisters, Cecelia Todnem, and Amy Christian; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Thor; and six brothers and sisters.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, from 4-8 P.M. at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, 520 E. Roosevelt Road, in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, at 10:00 A.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake, IL.
