Ruth M. McEvoy, age 91, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died October 4, 2015, peacefully at home with her daughter holding her hand. She was born June 25, 1924 in New York, NY.
Ruth worked for Romaine Pierson Publishers as an Office Manager. She was a soloist for many years earlier in life; was on the board of Youth for Christ in Long Island, NY; and met with other women for 50 years with Faith At Work. Ruth was married a second time at age 66 after years of faithful single-parenting. Fred McEvoy was a special gift from God to her. They traveled extensively and enjoyed each other until their health declined.
She is survived by her husband, Fred McEvoy of Centereach, NY; her children, Scott (Linda) Gring of Clay, NY, and Dana Wall of Wheaton, IL; 11 grandchildren, Sarah Dulany-Gring, Hannah (Sterling) Thomas and Zachary (Michelle) Gring, Heather Gring and Aryn Gring, and Jessica, Meredith, Robert, Emma, Rexford and Victoria Wall; four great-grandchildren, Seth and Jane Wilhelmi, Hope Thomas and Riley Gring.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Gring; her great-grandson, Colby Jeffrey Thomas; and three siblings, Edward, Herbert and Perry MacNeal.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until the start of a memorial service to be held at 4:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home. Interment will be private. Additional services will be held in New York.
