Rev. Ruth Augusta Lincoln Blair, age 87, a longtime resident of Wheaton, Illinois, died August 6, 2014, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. She was born March 29, 1927 in Hingham, Massachusetts.
Ruth was an avid photographer her entire life. As a young woman, she owned and managed her own photography shop in Hingham, Massachusetts. She attended college at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where she studied music. She played symphonic and jazz percussion in many ensembles throughout her life.
At age 59, Ruth pursued a calling to become ordained as a Deacon in the Episcopal Church. She served as a member of the clergy at Trinity Episcopal Church in Wheaton, Illinois for 27 years, where her wisdom, humility, and great sense of humor were a blessing to all. Her duties encompassed a ministry to the young and old alike, teaching Sunday school for young children as well as serving as a Mentor in the Education for Ministry program for adults.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Marianne Blair of Chicago, Illinois and Catherine (Mark) Lam of Wheaton Illinois, as well as her granddaughter Leah Ruth.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Billy Blair.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM at
Trinity Episcopal Church
, 130 N. West St., Wheaton, Illinois with Canon Linda Potter officiating. Interment will follow in the church's columbarium.
