Obituary

Ruth A. LaPointe, nee Wilson, age 89, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. She was born August 5, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN.

Ruth had a love for music, sports, baking and cooking. She is known for apple slices, brownies, and pies. While she loved to bake her delights for all to enjoy, no one could convince her to open a bakery. Her enjoyment came from sharing her gifts from the kitchen to the dining room table. She love to play the organ and the piano. Sometimes family members and friends of the family would join her with their guitars and harmonicas to fill the home with sounds of music, laughter and fun. Her working career included property management and accounting. Outside of baking and work, she was an avid sports fan. Her love of football, basketball, and baseball really tied up a lot of Sunday afternoons in front of the television, but anyone who knows her knows how much Da Bears, Bulls, and Cubs mean to her. Almost her entire weekend wardrobe consisted of team related tee shirts and sweatshirts. Depending on which sports season we were in, you could always count on her wearing the appropriate attire. For alone time with Larry, they would find peace and solitude on many camping trips throughout the United States, with Colorado being their favorite destination. She gave "rocky mountain high" a new meaning with her love of the outdoors, camping and mingling with nature and exploring the heights in the majestic mountain tops of the Rockies.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Larry; his four children, Steve (Pam) LaPointe of Lee's Summit, MO, Dan (Mary) LaPointe of Wasco, IL, Theresa Cramer of Wheaton, IL., and Mike (Patty) LaPointe of Glen Ellyn, IL; seven grandchildren, Shane, Jimmy, Danielle, Cathy, Joe, John and Kenny; five great-grandchildren, Terrance, Ja'Siah, Ariyanna, Parker and Barrett; and her sister, Marsha (Greg) Brown.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Dolores Ballard.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL.
