Ruth E. Kroger, age 95, a former resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream and Glen Ellyn, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday,October 14 in Solon, Ohio at her daughter Cindy's home. She was born May 23, 1913 in Glen Ellyn to Urban and Dorothy Edith Abell.
She was a lifelong resident of Glen Ellyn where she raised her family and was very active in the First Baptist Church of Glen Ellyn (currently known as Parkview Community Church). She attended Bible Study Fellowship and was known to all as a woman of prayer.
Ruth began her career as a professional seamstress in the building now known as Stacy's Tavern. She continued for many years to work as a seamstress out of her home. After retirement she enjoyed her family, church, and the Cubs.
She is survived by three children, Ken (Liz) Kroger of Wheaton, Bruce (Ann) Kroger of West Chicago, and Cindy (Steve) Andresen of Solon, OH; eight grandchildren, David (Mary) Kroger, Jennifer (Dave) Starkweather, Beth (Webb) McCanse, Bill (Rachel) Kroger, Katie (Brik) Volk, Daniel (Corrine) Kroger, Matt (Jill) Andresen, and Phil Andresen; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Kenneth T. Kroger, her parents; her sister, Dorothy Wills, and her brother, Austin Abell.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, from 1:00 P.M. until the time of a service at 2:00 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.
