Obituary
Ruth L. Kahler, age 89, a resident of Fernandina Beach, FL, and formerly of Wheaton, IL and Holiday, FL, died Friday, April 20, at the Osprey Village Assisted Living in Fernandina Beach. She was born February 20, 1918 in Chicago.
Ruth worked in the banking industry most of her life, then later worked as an office manager for medical opthalmics. She retired in 2000. Sheand her husband, Clifford were also former business owners in Wheaton and Naperville. They were actively involved in the Wheaton community. Throughout her life she was an avid reader and card player and was an active and longtime member of the Gary Memorial United Methodist Church in Wheaton.
She is survived by her sister, Neva Kjellander of Madison, WI; three granddaughters, Danielle (Chris) Spence of Fernandina Beach, FL, Theresa (John) Ferguson of Wheaton, and Lisa (Matt) Doman of Glen Ellyn; two grandsons, Bryan Kahler, and Mathew Kahler; eight great-grandchildren; her niece, Susie (Dave) Sieg; and her nephew, Robert (Judy) Kjellander.
She was preceded in death in 1981 by her husband, Clifford; and her children, Ronald Kahler, and Sandra Czajkowski.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of a service at 11:00 A.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to Gary Memorial United Methodist Church; 224 N. Main Street; Wheaton, IL 60187.
