Obituary
Ruth M. Howard, age 84, a resident of Wheaton for 56 years, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, September 19, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born September 5, 1921 in LaGrange, IL.
In her early years she attended a one-room school house in Indiana, then returned to Illinois to graduate from LaGrange High School and Junior College. She married the love of her life, Conrad B. Howard, on February 27, 1943. Ruth was very active with school, church, and community activities throughout her life. She enjoyed people and making new friends. Her involvements included Cub Scouts, the Girl Scout program, 4-H, PTA, DuPage County Home Extension, and many service areas at Gary Memorial United Methodist Church in Wheaton. She was instrumental in developing the Vesper Service at Wyndemere Retirement Center where she lived with her devoted husband, Conrad, for 12 years.
She is survived by her husband, Conrad; her son, Edward (Doreen) of Barrington; her daughter, Jean (Larry) Armbruster of Mukilteo, WA; her six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 26, at 11:00 A.M. at Gary Memorial United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment is private at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013.
