Ruth C. Greer, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Glen Oaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, Illinois. She was born September 7, 1934 in Grafton, Wisconsin to Eugene and Joyce Wedereit.

As a child, Ruth moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she graduated from High School. She met Robert Greer and they were married on April 25, 1953. They lived in Peewee Valley, KY while Robert served in the Army. After starting a family they moved to Glen Ellyn, IL, where they had their second daughter.

While her daughters were young, she was involved with their education, serving with the PTA and a Brownie Leader. She taught Sunday School at St. Matthew United Church of Christ.

Ruth loved music, and enjoyed playing the piano. She loved animals and was an advocate for environmental causes.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Peter) Capela of Wheaton and Elizabeth Greer of Wheaton, two grandchildren, Stephen (Kelly) Capela and Courtney (Tim) Weber, and four great-grandchildren, Daphne, Kyle, Simon and Nate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1999 and her parents.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthew UCC. Everyone is asked to wear a mask while at church. Private interment will take place at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
